COURSE SUMMARY: The intricate connection between the oral cavity, gut, and brain has garnered significant attention in recent years. This continuing education course delves into the emerging field of the Oral-Gut-Brain Microbiota Axis and its implications for dental professionals. Participants will explore the bidirectional communication between these three systems and understand how disruptions in the microbiota balance can influence oral health, systemic well-being, and even cognitive functions. Attendees will gain valuable insights into leveraging this knowledge to enhance patient care and promote overall health

Dr. Kirsten Roling, DDS

Dr. Roling, DDS is the Chief Education Officer for Dental CE Academy.  She completed dental school training at the University of California, San Francisco; during the height of the HIV/AIDS Pandemic. Dr. Roling is a public health dentist, credited as an early pioneer of Teledentistry. Her clinical practice spans pediatrics to geriatrics. Previously an Assistant Clinical Professor, UCSF; and Public Health Preceptor, Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, Dr. Roling also held the position as Chief for the Office of Oral Health, Maricopa County, Department of Public Health where she administered the nation's largest pediatric oral health prevention programs for the third largest U.S. public health department. As a mobile dental provider, she commanded a large teledentistry practice to treat homebound geriatric patients. She is a recipient of the Pediatric Oral Health Access Program (POHAP) scholarship and provided dental services to at risk infants and foster children. She has completed certification through the American Dental Education Association in conjunction with the Academy of Academy Leadership and Institute. She is published in the Journal of Public Health Dentistry.
