COURSE SUMMARY: As the
cases of Monkeypox continue to rise in the United States, the CDC
has sounded the alarm - Monkeypox virus symptomology initially
begins in the oral cavity. In early August, the United States
declared the ongoing monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency.
Two weeks prior the World Health Organization (WHO) declared
monkeypox a “public health emergency of international concern”—a
designation reserved to describe COVID-19 and
polio. Public health officials around the world and in the United
States are increasingly urging clinicians to watch for warning
signs. Monkeypox is an evolving threat to our patients and
team.
