DESCRIPTION:
For a century, dentistry's answer to a carious
lesion has been to remove tooth structure. Peptide therapeutics are
changing that premise — and your patients are already reading about
it.
This one-hour course cuts through the noise.
You'll learn what peptides are, how they differ from proteins and
growth factors, and why their structure makes them useful as
biomimetic scaffolds.
LEARNING
OBJECTIVES:

Define peptides and distinguish them from
proteins, growth factors, and small-molecule drugs, and describe
the properties that enable their use as biomimetic scaffolds.

Explain the mechanism of guided enamel
regeneration by self-assembling peptide P11-4, including matrix
self-assembly and hydroxyapatite nucleation within the subsurface
lesion.

Evaluate the current clinical evidence for
peptide-based remineralization and compare reported outcomes with
fluoride varnish and other remineralizing agents.

Select appropriate cases using lesion staging and
activity assessment, and identify presentations in which
restorative intervention remains indicated.
